Twenty seven chili cook-off entrants battled for the bragging rights for the third yearsand key florida chili cook-off winners. The judges took over an hour and a half to finally choose the best of the event. First place went to Bill Tannock with his “Paisley Texan Chili”. Second went to joint entrants Terri Koster and Susie Wilhelm with their “Uno Frijole Picante”. Pam Denning won third with a recipe from Gary Busby that he calls “The Pride of Indiana”.

A packed house watched the fun unfold as “chili heads” argued over beans or no beans, beef and types of peppers until the scores were in. It was a fun time for everyone involved on a sunny Sand Key waterfront afternoon.

Participants are already planning ingredient changes for next year. The event is always held the week before the Super Bowl.
