Sand Key Civic Association Opposes Hotel Development

In a sometimes emotionally charged discussion about the potential loss of the Shoppes of Sand Key, residents demanded the SKCA take a stand on further hotel rooms on the island. After much discussion and some opposition, the Board passed a resolution to oppose further hotel development.

Many residents expressed their intent to be at the December 18th zoning hearing at the Development Board (see article below). Mary from Lighthouse Towers showed a petition she says has been signed by 400 people opposing the loss of the Shoppes.

Thanks to all of you who have signed the petition opposing rezoning of the Shoppes of Sand Key. I have more than 1000 signatures. More are coming daily, I hope to double this amount.
